What waterjet cutting is used for
A waterjet cuts cold. There is no heat-affected zone, no hardening and no thermal distortion. That makes it suitable for thick plate, heat-sensitive materials and materials a laser does not cut: titanium, copper, plastics, composites, glass and stone.
What matters on a waterjet machine
What counts is table size, pump pressure and whether the machine cuts with abrasive, which metal requires. A tilting cutting head compensates for the tapered cut edge and allows bevels. Waterjet cutting is slower than laser cutting, but thickness is hardly a limit.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is waterjet cutting?
±0.1 to ±0.2 mm is usual, depending on thickness and cut quality. Finer quality levels take longer and cost more.
Up to which thickness does a waterjet cut?
In metal, 100 mm and more are possible, although the cut then takes a long time. The figure in the listing is what the shop commits to.
Is one of your machines idle next week?
List it before the week stays empty.
