What laser cutting is used for

A laser cuts contours from sheet metal without any tooling. That pays off from one-offs to medium runs: blanks, tabs, brackets, panels and enclosure parts. Fibre lasers now also cut copper and brass; tube lasers handle profiles and tubes.

What matters on a laser cutting machine

What counts is table size, laser power and the maximum thickness per material. Mild steel can be cut thicker than stainless steel or aluminium. Clean, oxide-free edges are cut with nitrogen, which takes more power on thick sheet.

Frequently asked questions

Which tolerances are usual in laser cutting?

About ±0.1 mm on thin sheet, more on thick plate. The listing states the range the shop commits to.

What does the material thickness figure mean?

It is the greatest thickness the machine cuts. The value usually applies to mild steel; for stainless steel and aluminium it is lower. If in doubt, ask with material and thickness.

Is one of your machines idle next week?

List it before the week stays empty.
